Initial Visits

The first time you visit Premier; there are some forms you must fill out prior to being seen. To make the process of filling out forms as painless as possible, we have put all our new patient forms on our website.  If you have internet access, please download and print the forms off our website or request them via email so you can fill out the paperwork in the comfort of your own home.  If you are unable to fill out the new patient forms before you arrive at our office, please come thirty minutes prior to your appointment so that you will have ample time to complete the forms.

Newborn Visits

On the day of your baby’s hospital discharge, please schedule an appointment for a newborn follow-up visit.  This is usually occurs one to three days after discharge (unless your doctor advises differently).  Appointment slots are always reserved for newborn babies.

Well Visits

For well child care, which includes immunizations and check-ups, please make an appointment as early as possible.  We will screen vision and hearing as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics at these visits as well as screening lab work as indicated. (See a full listing of labs under “Sick Visits” below). Demand for appointments will vary throughout the year, so we encourage you to call as early as possible to schedule a well visit.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time so that any required paperwork (ex. change of address or telephone number) can be handled before your scheduled time.

At Premier Pediatrics we believe immunizing your child is one of the most important preventative health measures available. Follow  this link to see the immunization schedule that we follow (which is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Immunization Practices Committee of the CDC):  http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/acip/

Sick Visits

Sick care at Premier Pediatrics includes evaluation and treatment of any routine pediatric medical condition.  We offer  limited suturing and casting, cryotherapy (freezing) for warts, nebulizer treatments for acute respiratory disease, intramuscular antibiotics,  and IV fluids.  Our in house labs include:  rapid strep and mono tests, complete blood count,  dip stick urinalysis, flu testing, glucose screen, RSV testing, Urine HCG (pregnancy test), TSH (thyroid), Lipid Panel (including cholesterol) and more. We have the ability to monitor asthma patients with spirometry (a computerized breathing test).

Please contact our office for an appointment as soon as you think your child might need to be seen. If you need help determining if you should duke it out at home or get checked, please call early in the day so that we can guide you through the decision making process.  Our nurses are trained in pediatric triage protocols and are a great resource — try them!  We will advise you on urgency and possible home treatments.  Utilize this website as well — see our self-help list of conditions and treatments on the homepage and our links to other helpful sites under the “links” column.  You may always use the walk-in clinic time of 8 am to 4:30 pm weekdays for sick visits, as well.  On Saturdays the walk-in clinic time is 8 am until 11 am. Your provider for these appointments will vary depending on availability.

If a problem occurs after hours and it can’t wait until morning, we’ve got you covered.  After hours care is handled by the pediatric nurse triage team at Childrens Mercy Hospital along with one of our Premier Pediatrics doctors.  Note: there will be a nominal charge for use of this service.

Office Policy on Tardiness and Rescheduling

Premier Pediatrics endeavors to provide timely and convenient service. Patients who come late, unprepared, or without an appointment (outside of walk-in clinic hours) inconvenience those patients who are on time, prepared, and call in advance to schedule an appointment.  If you have an appointment and you cannot make it, please contact us 24 hours prior to appointment to either cancel or re-schedule your appointment. If you know you will be at least 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, please call us and let us know (the visit may need to be rescheduled depending upon the provider’s schedule that day). This will enable us to see patients as timely as possible. Please see our financial policy for all fees associated with missed appointments and late cancellations.
