Please be patient with us in the next coming weeks as our walk in clinic is extremely busy. We are doing all we can to streamline the process and increase staffing. We recommended calling and making an appointment for any non-urgent matters. If your child or a parent is positive for COVID please call to reschedule your appointment! If your child needs to be seen we can reschedule it as a sick visit.

COVID-19 FAQ’s

My Child has been exposed, what do I do?

  1. Check the CDC website for their most current recommendations and guidelines.
  2. Call your child’s school or daycare facility for their testing/quarantine requirements. These are based on county, age and whether the children wear masks at school
  3. Contact the Johnson County COVID hotline.
  4. If you have not found the answers you need, please call us. General COVID questions have a 72-hour processing time. Please do not call multiple times, as this increases the wait time.

  1. if your child is having difficulty breathing or is not responding to you, please call 911.
  2. Check the symptom and diagnosis tool on our website for your child’s symptoms, for home care advice and help deciding if child needs to be seen for their symptoms. It can be found under the home tab. Please use a non-Chrome browser.

  4. Call the Johnson County COVID hotline for COVID specific questions regarding exposure, tracking, and most up to date isolation guidelines.
  5. If you have other questions, please contact our office.

Can my child be tested in your office?

Yes! Through our walk-in clinic M-F 8-430pm and Sat 8-11am. Please note your child must be evaluated by a provider in order to obtain testing (it is considered a sick visit). The provider will decide which testing is appropriate and help with the timing of testing based on exposure, symptoms etc.

Can we Walk-In for covid testing?

Yes absolutely, but please know that your child will need to see a provider in order to be tested, similarly to if your child would need a flu or strep test.

Can I be tested with my children?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer COVID-19 testing to parents, only to patients of the practice.

What type of testing do you offer in the clinic?

**as of 3/1/22 we do have in house molecular COVID testing again but this is subject to supply/availability

  1. We offer two types of testing in the office. For children who are symptomatic we have rapid molecular testing, which is more accurate than rapid antigen testing. The in-house testing we offer takes about 20-30 minutes and tests for particles of the virus itself, not your body’s response to the virus, making it 94-97% accurate. The second type of testing we offer is PCR testing which is >98% accurate and can be used for children with or without symptoms. It is a send out lab that we collect in the office and send to the local 4M laboratory. We expect those results within about 24-72 hours.
  2. For any testing that is completed in the office for symptomatic kiddos, we recommend that as long as the child is not in need of urgent or emergent medical care (same day medical assessment and treatment) that you wait at home for child to be symptomatic for at least 24 hours before bringing them in for testing. This is to ensure accuracy of any testing done in house (flu, strep, RSV, COVID, etc.).

Where can I get my child a COVID 19 vaccine?

Due to staffing shortages and handling concerns we cannot currently offer vaccines in our office. We recommend scheduling an appointment at Children’s Mercy, Johnson County Health Dept or local pharmacies (if child is less anxious). Please see Vaccines.gov for more information
